I’m originally from Belgium and after spending nine years in Singapore, I figured that it was better to see something once than to hear it a thousand times. So, I decided to quit my sales and marketing job to travel for six months. Six months has turned into a year and a half and there is more travel to come.
I embarked on what would be an adventure of a lifetime.
I am what we call a ‘solo independent traveller’ and I started my journey around South East Asia. From Indonesia to Sri-Lanka, India and Nepal, all the way to Japan. I travelled on a very tight budget (you can’t really expect to travel for more than two years if you don’t watch your expenses), couch surfing with locals, learning how they live/survive, sharing their food and public transports. Then I realised that adventures are the best ways to learn.
It is not easy everyday, being away from home, not having a cosy home, living out of a backpack, having hundreds of friends on Facebook but not actual friends who are physically present. But choosing to live a life of a traveler is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I would never regret taking the chance to leave it all behind me. Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer so why not continue that way?
Don’t be shy, come and say hello if you get a chance. I will also be more than happy to help you out with any tasks if needed.
