Inspirational talk from Tony Wheeler at the second Startup Grind event in depo8.
Tony talked about his journey from starting Lonely Planet in 1973 with his wife Maureen, through the sale of the business to BBC, to today where he funds over 50 projects in the developing world through his foundation Planet Wheeler.
When asked for some tips and advice for start up businesses his answer was simple.
“Do what you love above anything else”.
On publishing his first book Across Asia on the Cheap Tony took the book into a bookstore in Singapore hoping for an order of 50 books. The store owner placed an order for 1000 copies and the rest, as they say, is history.
