Last week I was up in Sydney for the GCUC –
2015 Global Coworking Unconference Conference
I was mildly curious to see what others think about coworking and to hear from some industry experts. But more importantly it was a great excuse to head up to Sydney, check out Vivid, go to some bars and crash at a five star hotel with no kids for a couple of nights.
The surprising thing was the broad range of people in the room:
Incubators, Accelerators, Tech Hubs – York Butter Factory, Inspire9, Fishburners
Traditional serviced office – SevCorp, Regus
Shared space operators from the country
Smart Hub – Telework operators from suburban areas
to our type of inner city wannabe hipster coworking centres – depo8, Revolver Creative, The Hub, Tank Stream Labs, YourDesk to name just a few.
There were people representing state governments, local councils, researchers from universities plus about a third of the room who were new people looking to open a coworking venue in the next few months.
Pat yourself on the back. You are part of a new way of working. The future of work. One which involves a whole lot more flexibility, collaborating frequently with a diverse range of people to get work done more efficiently and hopefully with a lot more fun.
